Royal Perks is Burger King’s free rewards program in the US. You collect points, called Crowns, on what you buy and trade them for food later. If you go to Burger King more than once in a while, it’s worth the two minutes it takes to set up. Below is how it works, with the current rewards chart.

The facts in this guide come from Burger King’s official Royal Perks page, checked on November 6, 2026. Burger King can change the program at any time, so the BK app always has the final word.

How to join Royal Perks

  1. Download the official BK app or go to bk.com.
  2. Create an account with your email address.
  3. Join Royal Perks if you’re asked to, and choose your usual restaurant.
  4. Add your birthday to your profile so you get the birthday perks.

Joining costs nothing, and you don’t need a plastic card: your account and member code live in the app.

How you earn Crowns

Crowns are the program’s points. Members earn 10 Crowns for every $1 spent on eligible purchases at participating US Burger King restaurants. A purchase earns Crowns when it’s linked to your account:

  • Order in the app or on bk.com while signed in. This includes delivery orders placed through the BK app or bk.com.
  • Scan your member code in the restaurant before you pay, at the counter, kiosk or drive-thru.

New Crowns can take up to 24 hours to show up, so give it a day before you assume something went wrong.

Rewards are grouped into four levels. These are the items Burger King shows as examples for each level:

*Spending estimate based on the official rate of 10 Crowns per $1 on eligible purchases. Examples are the items shown on Burger King’s Royal Perks page on November 6, 2026. Availability varies by restaurant, so check the Rewards tab in the app for the full, current list.

Rules worth knowing

  • Crowns expire. They expire on the first day of the month after the sixth month from when you earned them. Crowns earned in January, for example, expire on August 1.
  • One reward per order. You can redeem one free item per transaction, then wait 60 minutes before redeeming another reward.
  • One offer per order. The same one-per-transaction limit and 60-minute wait apply to app offers.
  • Participating restaurants only. Most Burger King restaurants are franchises, and not every location takes part in every promotion.

Birthday rewards

Royal Perks members earn double Crowns for the whole month of their birthday on eligible purchases, plus a free item on their birthday. Burger King lists the choices as a Whopper Jr., Original Chicken Sandwich, Cheeseburger, 8-piece Chicken Fries, a Soft Serve cup or cone, or a seasonal item.

Getting the most value from your Crowns

  • Aim higher. Higher levels unlock pricier items, so saving up can be better value than cashing in for a small side.
  • Don’t let them expire. Check your balance regularly, especially if you only visit occasionally.
  • Compare with offers. If an app offer already gives you an item at a big discount, save your Crowns for something else.
  • Plan around your birthday. Double Crowns make your birthday month the best time for bigger orders.
  • Don’t forget to scan. Paying before your member code is scanned is the most common way to miss out on Crowns.

Who should sign up?

Anyone who goes a few times a month. Every $20 you spend gets you to the first reward, and your birthday month speeds things up. If you only go once or twice a year, your Crowns will probably expire before you use them, but you’d still get the app offers, so it costs you nothing to join.
